GASTRONOMY

We will pamper you with traditional recipes of the »Collio« and »Friuli« cuisines. We offer lots of home-grown vegetables, meat and wine, jams, honey, pasta and bread. Our specialities are pearl barley with vegetables, seasonal soups, omelettes, frico, gnocchi (small potato dumplings) filled with aromatic herbs and fruit, toč with ham and white polenta, lasagne (pie) with seasonal vegetables and chestnuts and pumpkin-based dishes.

In the autumn period we serve our guests chestnut-soup with boletus mushrooms, and we pick these mushrooms directly from under the chestnut trees, which are located all around the house.
You can have our delicious štruklji and fruit sweets and can also try different varieties of cheese, amongst them a strong flavoured goat milk cheese (from the mountain hut below Kožbana) served with home-made honey (flower honey, acacia honey, chestnut honey and linden honey).











Our culinary specialties can be accompanied by home produced wines that have a full bodied and have deep ruby hues, due to our climate and location. Not only will we offer you our home produced draught wines: Merlot amongst the red and the typical »Rebula«, Malvazija, Sauvignon Vert (Sauvignonasse) amongst the white, but we also stock bottled wines produced by the best wine-growers from the Collio region, such as Schioppettino from across the border.











You can also try some fruit-based grappas (with cherries, bilberries, redcurrant, walnuts) and some herbal grappas (with wormwood, rue), honey grappa, slivovitz grappa, pear-grappa, marc-grappa and methana grappa (made with medicinal plants). Throughout the year no matter what the season you can quench your thirst with home-made elder juice and with the exquisite apple juice made from apples from Nadiške doline. If you like our juicy fruits you can also purchase them from us.
